Irene Escorihuela Blasco

Irene holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Pompeu Fabra University (and studies at Sciences Po Paris), and a bachelor’s and master’s degree in law from Barcelona University. She is specialized in human rights with a focus on the right to housing and the right to the city, and has several publications in this field. She has academic and practical work experience in Latin America, especially in Peru and Ecuador. In Spain, she has worked as a lawyer and consultant on housing issues. She is currently the director of Observatori DESC (Economic, Social and Cultural Rights Observatory), a human rights organization in Barcelona, where she coordinates research, advocacy campaigns, and strategic litigation. She is one of the founders of the Barcelona Tenant Union, established in 2017. She participates in local movements and a member of the ESCRnet board.
